Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust In Wallingford: Police

Two brothers were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A traffic stop led to the arrest of two brothers on drug charges Friday night in Wallingford, according to police. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Wharton Brook Drive at about 8 p.m. on Aug. 30.

“After observing several indicators of criminal activity and with the assistance of Wallingford Police K-9 Tate, the investigation resulted in the seizure of 12.2 grams of heroin, 5.5 grams of crack cocaine, 1.5 ounces of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and approximately $1,100 in cash, which is believed to be derived from narcotic sales,” Sgt. Lou Brangi wrote in a press release.

The driver was identified as Shase Ricks, 26, of Bloomfield, and his 25-year-old brother, Malik Ricks who is also from Bloomfield, was identified as the passenger, according to Brangi. Both were arrested.

Shase and Malik Ricks were each charged with possession with intent to sell narcotics (crack cocaine), possession with intent to sell narcotics (heroin), possession of marijuana with intent to sell (over ½ ounce / under 4 ounces), conspiracy to commit possession with intent to sell narcotics (crack cocaine), conspiracy to commit possession with intent to sell narcotics (heroin) and conspiracy to commit possession of marijuana with intent to sell (over ½ ounce / under 4 ounces).

They were each released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and are due in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 13.
