Just One Year In, 'Knuckleheads' Already Expanding
The downtown barbecue restaurant will take over a former clothing store.
Anthony Morgillo, 27, opened Knuckleheads, a classic American food restaurant, at 80 Center St. in 2011, his first venture into ownership after working odd jobs in the food service industry for over a decade.
After almost a year in business, Knuckleheads is still going strong, winning the people’s choice award at the Porkapalooza event last May - and now the restaurant is already looking to expand.
When men’s clothing store Difranco's closed up shop next door at 78 Center St., Morgillo took over the space to expand the restaurant.
The business has done well, but the plan wasn't necessarily for immediate expansion. With the vacancy open for rent, however, Morgillo said it was now or never for Knuckleheads.

“I didn’t want to expand this soon,” Morgillo said.
Construction began two months ago and will wrap up in four to seven weeks, Morgillo said. The new space will include features like 30 beer taps at a full bar, as well as continuing to offer a full restaurant menu.
