Vehicles Burglarized Overnight in Wallingford: Police

Police are investigating numerous reports of thefts from vehicles. A suspect recently fled from police and ditched a stolen car in Hamden.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles as they continue to investigate numerous burglaries that have occurred during the overnight hours throughout town.

In one of the latest incidents, a patrol officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of East Center and Southwind Drive at about 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 20. After seeing the officer, the operator changed his course of travel, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.

Bradley said the officer ran the registration plate and it was determined to have been stolen out of Wethersfield.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however, it fled at a high rate of speed and Connecticut State Police were notified after the vehicle entered onto I-91, according to Bradley.

The suspect vehicle was spotted a short time later in Hamden where police attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled from Hamden Police and the occupants subsequently abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, according to Bradley.

Bradley said a search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of items that were determined to have been stolen from unlocked vehicles in the area of Patrick’s Court in Wallingford.

“Wallingford Police have been investigating numerous incidents of thefts from vehicles occurring in the overnight hours,” Bradley said. “The incidents are occurring town-wide and involve unlocked motor vehicles. The police ask for your assistance in this by simply locking the doors of your vehicles and removing valuables such as purses, GPS units, money and computers.”
