WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford's 350th Jubilee Parade has been postponed to next year due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, organizers announced Monday. The event, which marks the 350th anniversary of Wallingford's founding, will take place June 19, 2021.

The parade, which was originally scheduled to take place this June, was previously postponed to Sept. 26. However, organizers were concerned that it wouldn’t be possible to hold it in the fall due to the pandemic.

“Our Jubilee Leadership Team has been closely monitoring the pandemic our country is currently experiencing,” John J. Sullivan, chairman of the Wallingford 350th Jubilee Parade Committee, wrote in a letter to participants. “While there appears to be several different theories on how long the threat of this virus will impact our lives, our leadership team feels our current Parade date of September 26, 2020 may not provide enough of a safety cushion for our participants, spectators or volunteers.”

Sullivan said that while the postponement is “disappointing, safety will always be our first priority” and residents should look forward to next June’s parade.
