Wallingford-Based Franchiser Suing Google For $209 Million
The company claims its business is being hurt by the placement of rival ads on its Google search results.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford-based Edible Arrangements is suing Google for $209 million on claims that its business is being hurt by the placement of rival companies’ ads on Google searches for Edible Arrangements, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Post reports the lawsuit, which was filed in federal court earlier this month, claims that the prominent placement of ads for companies such as Shari’s Berries and 1-800-Flowers.com on search results for “Edible Arrangements” likely causes confusion that Edible Arrangements is affiliated with those competitors.
Edible Arrangements is seeking $9 million in estimated profits that Google has received from the rival ads, along with $200 million more in damages for what it claims is trademark infringement, according to the Post.
