What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
As a Councilor, I would encourage greater strategic planning with respect to downtown properties and focusing heavily on Transit Oriented Development.
List other issues that define your campaign platform:
I would like to work to revamp recreational sports by fostering more collaboration between the school system, parks & recreation and the independent youth sports leagues.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have worked in leadership roles as a volunteer with a few organizations in Wallingford over the last 15 years and this experience has provided me with the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, beliefs and ideologies. I have been committed to serving in any capacity where I am needed since returning to live in Wallingford in 2000.
In my professional experience, I have worked as an educator, program evaluation liaison, published researcher and director of a department that monitors compliance with federal law. In all of these roles, my professionalism and commitment to preparedness have gotten me where I am today.
I believe that my work across various professional and community based endeavors makes me a sound candidate to serve Wallingford as a Town Councilor.
The best advice ever shared with me was ...
Remain relevant, whenever possible.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am looking to serve every citizen in the town of Wallingford- even those too young to vote. We live in a great town that could be made even better with some strategic planning and a laser focus on performing the needed upkeep that can sometimes be lacking. By improving the downtown area and attracting (and retaining) younger people to live in Wallingford, it will lessen the burden on our aging population and make Wallingford an even more attractive location for new residents and new businesses.
