Mr. Lav, as we call him, teaches photography, yearbook, and occasionally teaches intro to art classes.

Why is he your favorite?

Mr. Lav is my favorite teacher because he is truly one of the sweetest and kindest individuals I’ve ever met. Mr. Lav has gone above and beyond for every student he’s come in contact with. He’s more than a teacher, he’s a friend and a mentor. He brings out the best in every single student. As a freshman in his art class, to a senior in his yearbook class, my favorite memories revolved around his classroom. If a student is upset, he talks to them and helps cheer them up. If a student is sick, he has a Keurig in his room and will offer them tea with honey.

He has a sense of humor like no other! He gives nicknames to all his students, even if they’re the craziest things. He called my classmate, Kim Flynn, “The Flynn Girl.” His little jokes like that showed us he cared on a level most teachers did not. He truly is the best teacher I encountered at Lyman Hall. After graduating with the class of 2015, he’s one of the people I miss most.
