Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
I have a wife and three sons. Two are in public schools, one is in college.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
NA
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
I am running for reelection to the Town Council. I have also served on the Wallingford Board of Education for three terms.
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
As a lifelong Wallingford resident, I know that Wallingford is a great town, but we could be doing better. With the retirement of our 40 year Mayor, this is an exciting time to be involved and I want to shape Wallingford's future to be as great for my kids as it was for me.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is our town's weakening infrastructure and a lack of technology in town government. These issues work hand in hand to make life harder for town residents. I have walked the parks and numerous town buildings, observing many issues in both. I supported the creation of a building maintenance committee to document the decay in town buildings. I have fought, and will continue to fight, for better maintenance of our roads and sidewalks, along with better maintenance programs. We have a lot of work ahead.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
All of the candidates are great people who are dedicated to our town. I bring experience at getting things done in town along with an ability to work with anyone of any party that has a similar interest. I owe nothing to any special interests that may seek money or influence from town government. I am a local guy who is interested in the concerns of local people.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
We need a plan for technology development in Wallingford along with maintenance, in addition to beefing up our fire and police departments.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
If you look at my record, you will note that I try to thread the needle between being critical about how your taxes are spent, along with trying to get things done. I approach every situation with an open mind with your interests at heart.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
The things we most dislike about other people are usually the things that are a reflection of ourselves.
