Wallingford Eyes More Control Over Reopening Businesses: Report

The Wallingford Town Council this week approved drafting a resolution to ask the state for more local control over reopening businesses.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Town Council this week approved drafting a resolution to ask the state for more local control over reopening businesses, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports council members were encouraged by declining new local cases of the coronavirus and frustrated by the slow rollout of the state’s reopening plan. The vote was 8-1 with Democrat Gina Morgenstein voting against the resolution, which was proposed by Republican Craig Fishbein.

Wallingford Health Director Stephen Civitelli said that after peaking in April, the town has seen a dramatic drop in new COVID-19 cases, according to the Record-Journal.
