Wallingford Fatal Overdose Leads To Guilty Plea

Two of the dealer's customers died from overdoses, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city man pleaded guilty to distributing heroin and fentanyl in federal court Tuesday. Wallingford Police responded to a fatal overdose on Feb. 28, 2017. A 25-year-old man was found dead. The death was caused by a combination of fentanyl and alprazolam. Investigators determined the fatal dose came from Alex Borrero, 50, of New Haven, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut.

Another one of Borrero's customers died of an overdose in Branford during May 2017. Borrero was arrested during October 2017. He had about 30 grams of heroin and around $1,9000 in cash on him at the time of his arrest.

He pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, heroin and fentanyl. He faces up to 30 years in prison. He has multiple previous convictions, including a federal conviction that led to a 188-month sentence. He was released in 2011.
