Wallingford Fire Station To Close

The town has seen a drop in volunteers over the years.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Fire Chief Richard Heidgerd has announced that the Yalesville volunteer fire station will be consolidated with the future North Farms Road station, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports the consolidation will take effect on Dec. 31.

The move was necessary due to a decline in the number of volunteers over the years. Wallingford has seen a drop in volunteers from 120 to 54 in the last 10 years.
