Wallingford Firm Wins NASA Contract
Proton Energy Systems of Wallingford is one of six CT firms to win NASA contracts.
A Wallingford company is one of six Connecticut firms to receive a $125,000 contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to conduct feasibility studies that could lead to advances in space exploration and aerospace technology.
The companies received support from Connecticut Innovations (CI) through the organization’s grant, loan, equity and talent programs, according to an announcement from Gov. Dannel P. Malloy made Thursday. Proton Energy Systems was awarded the contract.
“As we continue to focus on attracting and supporting the growth of innovative businesses, I congratulate these groundbreaking companies for the work they are doing in Connecticut and on the national level to support NASA, contribute to the advancement of space exploration and develop cutting-edge aerospace technologies,” Malloy said in a statement. “This is an accomplishment the companies should be proud of and we look forward to seeing the results of their research.”

The companies are being tasked to conduct a number of different areas of research, from developing high pressure oxygen generation systems for future space exploration missions to energy-efficient carbon dioxide storage systems.
