Wallingford Man Accused of Shoving Girlfriend's Child During Altercation in North Haven

Jeffrey Huber, 29, faces several charges following Saturday morning incident.

A Wallingford man is accused of shoving a 6-year-old boy during an altercation with his girlfriend, the boy’s mother, Saturday morning on Washington Avenue in North Haven, according to a police press release.

Jeffrey Huber, 29, was taken into custody by the Wallingford Police Department and was turned over to North Haven police.

Huber was arrested on charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, third-degree assault, unlawful restraint, breach of peace, and risk of injury to a minor.

North Haven police received multiple 911 calls at 11:13 a.m. on Nov. 15 reporting a male party assaulting a female in the area of 136 Washington Avenue.

Responding officers located a female victim and her 6-year-old son waiting in the vehicle of a passing motorist, according to police.

Police said the investigation revealed that the victim was traveling in a vehicle with her boyfriend, Huber, when an argument ensued. The woman and her child exited the vehicle to escape.

Huber stopped the vehicle and began pursuing them, according to police. Huber is accused of shoving the child and pinning the female victim into a fence while the child was trying to stop the assault.

Police said Huber raised his fist but a nearby store employee entered the parking lot and Huber fled. Huber was also alleged to have threatened the victim and spit at the victim and her child.

Huber was held on a $35,000 bond pending a court appearance in Meriden Superior Court.
