Wallingford Man Charged with Robbing CVS of More Than $10K Worth of Oxycodone Pills

The CVS was robbed last October and police apprehended the suspect when he was spotted pumping gas on Friday night.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford man has been charged with robbing a CVS of more than $10,000 worth of Oxycodone pills last October, according to police.

Wallingford Police took the suspect, John Buono, into custody when he was seen pumping gas on Friday evening, Lt. Michael Colavolpe said in a press release.

A robbery was reported at the CVS Pharmacy, located at 891 North Colony Road, at about 7:49 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2015.

Police said the suspect implied he had a firearm and demanded all the Oxycodone pills from the pharmacist.

The suspect obtained more than 1,200 Oxycodone pills in various milligrams.

Colavolpe said the street value for the Oxycodone pills is estimated at well over $10,000. Oxycodone is a highly abused narcotic analgesic, according to Colavolpe.

During subsequent investigation, Buono, 44, of 58 Lynn Drive, Wallingford, was developed as a person of interest. Through surveillance video, witness accounts, and DNA evidence, Buono was identified as being the person responsible for the robbery and an arrest warrant was obtained, Colavolpe said.

On Friday, April 8, at about 5 p.m., Buono was observed pumping gas at 68 North Turnpike Road in Wallingford. He was taken into custody without incident.

Buono was charged with first-degree, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of narcotics.

Buono was held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 19.
