Wallingford Man Threatens To 'Blow Up' Bank: Branford PD
The accused made the threat to corporate customer service after his checks did not clear, police said.

BRANFORD, CT — A Wallingford man, David Poulton, 72, is accused of making a statement threatening to 'blow up' the Branford-based TD Bank located at 1003 W. Main Street today, Branford Police said.
Poulton made the threat to corporate customer service after his checks did not clear, police said. The local branch was notified and the branch manager quickly evacuated the bank and called police, police said.
Officers were able to locate and apprehend Poulton, with the assistance of bank employees, who pointed out Poulton’s vehicle which was en route to the bank, police said. No weapons or explosive devices were found on Poulton’s person or in his vehicle, police said.

Poulton is charged with first-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree reckless endangerment. Poulton was detained on a $10,000 bond.
