Wallingford Mayor Considers Vetoing Community Pool Funding
The Town Council recently approved funding for the $7.4 million renovation project, which includes a new pool and a surrounding park.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. is considering vetoing funding for the Community Pool renovation project, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports the Town Council recently approved an ordinance amendment, by a 6-3 vote, that increased the appropriation and bond authorization to $7.4 million to fund the project.
Dickinson spoke out against the plan a week before the vote and said the project should be postponed due to the economic impacts from the new coronavirus pandemic, according to the Record-Journal. Dickinson has until Friday to veto the ordinance and it would take at least seven votes to override it at the council’s May 12 meeting, the Record-Journal reports.
