Wallingford, Meriden and North Haven Seek Rescue Equipment Funding

The area fire departments made the request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

WALLINGFORD, CT - The fire departments from Meriden, Wallingford and North Haven have teamed up to ask the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a $160,000 grant to purchase specialized rescue equipment.

Among the types of situations the equipment would help with include rope rescues, trench rescues and train derailments, among others, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.

Examples of the types of rescues the departments hope to perform include trench, tunnel or underground collapses, or high cliff or building rescues.

In addition to buying the specialized equipment, the funding also includes money for firefighter training.
