WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford mother of two young daughters is on the road to recovery after suffering for more than two weeks from the new coronavirus, according to WTNH News 8.

WTNH reports Caitlin Houston, 34, has been living a 17-day nightmare that began with a sore throat and fatigue and eventually tested positive for COVID-19 after originally being treated for the flu. She is now recovering thanks to a controversial drug prescribed by doctors, according to WTNH.

Houston told WTNH that she was given an antibiotic Z-Pack, followed by Plaquenil, a drug recently approved to treat Covid-19 patients. (To sign up for Wallingford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Houston, who runs a blog where she shares life stories, still doesn’t know how she caught the coronavirus.

“We know it’s impossible to predict the future, especially when it comes to life lately,” Houston wrote on her blog. “Frankly, I’m still shocked at how quickly my life came to a halt after catching Coronavirus. I know I’m not alone – we are all scratching our heads daily wondering how a virus could turn our world upside down. But life has ALWAYS been unpredictable so I wonder if we should feel this surprised.

“The last two weeks have been a blur to comprehend. HOW DID I GET CORONAVIRUS? I spent so much time worrying about my health before I got sick that I never anticipated this. THANKFULLY, I’m so proud to announce (I could literally cry) I feel better today. I am more like myself than I have been in 16 long ass days.

“I’m not 100% better since my doctor says the virus isn’t completely gone until my cough disappears. But, this is progress!”
