Wallingford Nursing Home Converts To Coronavirus Recovery Center
Quinnipiac Valley Center is the sixth facility in the state to be used as a recovery center for patients with the new coronavirus.
WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford nursing home has converted a portion of its facility to a temporary rehabilitation center for patients recovering from the new coronavirus. Quinnipiac Valley Center, a nursing and long-term care facility on Kondracki Lane, announced Tuesday it has converted the center to a temporary partial COVID-19 post-acute care center in order to “assist hospitals in expanding capacity during this unprecedented crisis.”
Quinnipiac Valley is the sixth nursing home in the state to be chosen to be used in the state's ongoing response to the pandemic. Quinnipiac Valley Center will be using a wing that was previously closed to admit up to 30 patients with COVID-19. The COVID-19 wing will be managed completely separate from the remainder of the facility, according to officials.
“Hartford HealthCare is grateful to both the Department of Public Health and Quinnipiac Valley Center for supporting an additional recovery site in the Central Region of Connecticut,” said David Santoro, vice president, business operations for HHC Integrated Care Partners. “The site at Quinnipiac Valley Center will allow adults who are COVID-19 positive to transition from our hospitals to a skilled nursing level of care while releasing an acute care bed for a person who might require a more intensive level of care.”
