Wallingford Officials Continue to Discuss Future of School System

Early education, possible consolidation of high schools among items discussed.

Wallingford officials and members of the public continue to discuss several options for the future of the school system’s strategic plan.

Among the topics discussed in a series of meetings last week, were early education and the possibility of consolidating Sheehan and Lyman Hall High School into one high school, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reported that the three days of meetings included people of all different backgrounds, including including Board of Education members, parents, teachers, school administrators, town officials and business leaders. The committee reviewed the current strategic plan to determine how to move the school system forward, according to the Record-Journal.

The Board of Education is expected to adopt a plan at the end of November and subcommittees will continue to meet in the meantime and draft a plan that will be presented to the board on Nov. 3, according to the Record-Journal.
