Wallingford Police Announce Road Closures

The annual Celebrate Wallingford event is this weekend and some road closures begin Friday night.

Wallingford Police have announced several road closures with the annual Celebrate Wallingford event taking place this weekend in the center of town.

Hurricane Joaquin was expected to hit the area when the event was originally scheduled and organizers decided to postpone the two-day event for two weeks and it will now be held Oct. 17-18.

Police have announced the following road closures:

  • South Main Street will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic between the intersection of Center Street and the intersection of Prince Street from Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. to Sunday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m.
  • North Main Street will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic between the intersection of Center Street and the intersection of Church Street from Saturday, Oct. 17 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m.
  • Simpson Court will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic from Saturday, Oct. 17 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m.
  • Hall Avenue will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic between its intersection with North Colony Road and the Amtrak Train Crossing on Saturday, Oct. 17 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 18 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Parking prohibitions will be in place on South Main Street, North Main Street, Simpson Court and Hall Avenue at the above noted times and locations in anticipation of the road closures.

Police remind motorists that vehicles parked in violation of this prohibition will be subject to the issuance of a parking ticket by police and removal by tow truck.
