Wallingford police have arrested the knife-wielding man who attempted to rob Neil’s Donuts on North Turnpike Road early Wednesday morning.

Police arrested Justin D. Bailey, 23, of Port Richey, Florida, Thursday at a friend’s residence at the Silvertree Apartments, which is across the street from Neil’s, on two unrelated warrants for causing a public disturbance, according to the New Haven Register.

During Bailey’s arrest, police seized evidence that directly linked him to the attempted robbery of Neil’s and he was later charged with first-degree attempted robbery and sixth-degree attempted larceny.

Bailey entered Neil’s through a back door around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, soon after employees had arrived at the shop to start making the donuts, displaying a large knife and demanding money.

The employees pushed a baking rack between themselves and Bailey, who fled the scene without any money, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.
