Wallingford Police Cite Three in Liquor Compliance Checks

Police conducted unannounced compliance checks at eight restaurants and establishments that have permits to serve alcohol.

Wallingford Police cited three minors for alcohol possession and say three local restaurants were found to have minor administrative violations during recent liquor compliance checks that were conducted last week.

Police conducted unannounced compliance checks on Friday, Jan. 15 at eight commercial establishments in town that have permits to serve alcohol.

Chili’s Restaurant, 99 Restaurant, and Plaza Azteca were found to have minor administrative violations which will be addressed with training and no enforcement action, according to Lt. Michael Colavolpe.

Colavolpe also said in a press release that three subjects were cited for possession of alcohol by a minor when they were found to have used either a fraudulent driver’s license or the driver’s license of someone else to obtain alcohol.

Instead of arrest, these subjects were issued an infraction ticket for the violation, which is a $136 fine and possibly the suspension of their driver’s license.

Based on police’s investigation, the server(s) at the establishments where the underage subjects were located, Plaza Azteca and Los Mariachis do not face criminal charges.

Eight locations were checked in total.

The restaurants that were found to be in compliance with liquor laws were Cherry Street Station, Double Play Café, Los Mariachis, Wallingford Bowl, and Westbrook Lobster.
