Wallingford Principal Resigns to Follow Dream to Disney World

The elementary school principal's resignation is effective at the end of the school year.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Yalesville Elementary School Principal Deborah Dayo is resigning to follow her dreams of working at Disney World.

Dayo’s resignation was one of 16 retirements and resignations accepted by the Board of Education on Monday night. The resignation is effective June 30.

“My resignation is bittersweet because I really do love the kids, my staff and the Yalesville School community, but it is the right time for me to follow my dreams,” said Dayo, who was hired by the district six years ago.

At Monday night’s board meeting, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Salvatore Menzo credited Dayo for making a positive impact on the school system and said she was a “ball of energy that has come to Yalesville and we’re so excited for her and we’re so disappointed also,” according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

Dayo and her wife have purchased a home in Florida and will be moving with their two dogs in July.

“I know it sounds silly, but my dream job at Disney would be at the Animal Kingdom working at the gorilla exhibit, but I will do anything,” Dayo said in an email. “I just love it there. The most Magical Place on Earth. I applied right out of college and did not get a job. I always said that someday I would work there and this is the time.”
