Wallingford School Board Approves Salary Increases for Teachers
The town council will vote on the Wallingford Board of Education's new three-year contract with teachers.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Board of Education approved a new contract with teachers that will increase salaries by 8.75 percent over a three-year period, according to multiple reports.
The New Haven Register reports the three-year contract, which will begin in Sept. 2017, was approved by a 6-1 vote last week with Democrat Jay Cei casting the only vote against the deal.
The contract needs the approval of the town council, which is expected to vote on the deal at its meeting on Nov. 22, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports that in addition to the salary increases and reductions in insurance waiver fees that would save the district nearly $760,000 over three years, the contract calls for new dress code language that requires teachers to “dress professional and in good taste… generally meaning business casual.”
