Wallingford Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Suspected Drug Dealer

The suspect had about one pound of marijuana, muscle relaxant pills, $684 cash, and drug paraphernalia in the car, according to police.

Wallingford police have arrested a town man on drug charges after he was found to be in the possession of about one pound of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop.

Vincent Narvaez, 24, of 250 South Orchard St., was pulled over after an officer observed a 2003 Honda Accord drive through a stop sign at the intersection of North Plains Industrial Road and North Plains Highway at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.

When the officer approached the vehicle and was speaking to Narvaez, he detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the inside, according to Lt. Richard Homestead.

Narvaez was detained while a search of the vehicle was conducted.

Officers found approximately one pound of marijuana, Metaxalone (muscle relaxant) pills, $684 cash, a digital measure scale and other items of drug paraphernalia, according to Homestead.

Narvaez was arrested on charges of possession with intent to sell a controlled substance, possession of greater than 4 ounces of marijuana, illegal possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to obey stop sign.

Narvaez was held on a $20,000 bond and is due in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 11.
