Wallingford: Your 2014 Midterm Election Results

The results for local races.

Democrat Mary Mushinsky won her 18th consecutive term by defeating Frank Apuzzo in the 85th District in the State House of Representatives.

Mushinsky received 3,610 votes, while Apuzzo had 2,956.

Mushinsky also received 295 votes as the Working Families Party candidate and Apuzzo had 242 Independent Party votes.

“It feels good,” Mushinsky told the Meriden Record-Journal following her victory. “I reminded people what we’ve been working on — the apprenticeship and retraining and trying to keep the property tax down.”

In the 90th District, Democrat Mary Fritz won reelection to her seat, which also covers parts of Cheshire, by defeating Republican Richard Abbate 3,369 to 2513 votes in Wallingford.

In the 103rd District, incumbent Republican Al Adinolfi defeated Democrat Kristen Selleck to retain his seat, which covers parts of Cheshire, Southington, and Wallingford.

In Wallingford, Adinolfi received 808 votes to Selleck’s 637.

For the 86th District, incumbent Republican Vincent J. Candelora ran unopposed and received 386 votes in Wallingford (along with 57 Independent Party votes).

In the 34th State Senate District, incumbent Republican Len Fasano ran unopposed and received 9,034 votes (along with 1730 Independent Party votes).

U.S. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro won 13th term for the 3rd District with a victory over Republican James E. Brown.

Wallingford voted 8,557 to 5,793 in favor of DeLauro.

And while the Governor’s race was too close to call before Dan Malloy declared victory around 12:30 a.m., Wallingford voted in favor of Tom Foley.

Foley received 7,676 votes to Malloy’s 6,932.

Foley also received 376 Independent Party votes and Malloy had 291 Working Families Party votes.
