WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Police Department held its first Coffee with a Cop event Friday morning at the Chick-Fil-A restaurant, 1098 North Colony Road.
Coffee with a Cop is a national program where community residents, who would not normally have the opportunity to do so, can sit down with police officers over a cup of coffee to ask questions, discuss a concern or share what’s on their mind.
Between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 15 police officers, including Chief of Police William Wright and Deputy Police Chief Marc Mikulski, greeted customers at the Wallingford Chick-Fil-A restaurant. The event was well attended and received by the community members that participated.

“As we continue to hold our Coffee with a Cop event our hope is to build community trust and to open invaluable lines of communications with our community,” Wright said. “It is a chance for officers and citizens to get to know each other and to discover mutual goals for the community that they live, work, and serve in.”
Chick-fil-A was the first restaurant that was approached to participate in the program. Todd Langston, the owner of Chick-fil-A enthusiastically agreed to partner with the Wallingford Police Department to sponsor the first event. Mr. Langston graciously provided coffee and breakfast to anyone who participated.
"The Chick-fil-A team was delighted to host Wallingford's very first 'Coffee with A Cop' event this morning,” Langston said. “There was a real sense of community at the breakfast table ... Lots of smiles and warm conversations."
