The National Weather Service had issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Wallingford early Friday but changed it to a Winter Storm Warning Friday afternoon.
The weather service predicts that the heavy wet snow combined with some sleet and freezing rain could make travel treacherous and the weight of the snow could knock down some tree limbs and power lines.

Original story
With the ever-evolving weather forecast for this weekend, it will be interesting to see what kind of a storm we actually end up with.
If you are a snow lover who’s been starved so far this winter, the latest Wallingford forecast from the National Weather Center offers a mixed bag of news.
A winter weather advisory has been issued beginning at midnight running until 6 p.m. Saturday for a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.
Snow is still expected at this time to accumulate 3-5 inches with a trace amount of ice mixed in. The heaviest snow mixed with sleet, and freezing rain, is forecast for Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon.
Despite the weather advisory for snow and sleet, the hourly forecast for Wallingford paints a picture where there will be more of a mix than anything else.
Snow showers are expected to break out at 2 a.m. and it is expected to be snowing by 3 a.m. and continue through 8 a.m. when heavy snow is expected.
At 9 a.m. it’s supposed to switch to freezing rain and then a rain/freezing rain mix from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before turning to just rain at noon.
Snow is expected to return at 1 p.m. and continue through 5 p.m. with heavy snow expected at 3 p.m. It should turn to light snow at 6 p.m. and snow showers at 7 p.m. and that “should” be the end of it.
