WEATHER UPDATE: 'Significant' Snow and Ice Storm to Hit Wallingford

The National Weather Service has now issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area for significant snow and ice accumulation.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the likelihood of a significant winter weather storm, which is expected to begin Sunday afternoon and last into Monday evening.

The National Weather Service is predicting a total accumulation of 4-6 inches of snow and sleet by the time the precipitation ends.

The weather service is saying the significant snow and ice accumulation could make driving very hazardous, and of course the worst of it is one against predicted for Monday morning’s commute and students expected return to school.

Sunday Night Snow and freezing rain likely before midnight, then snow. Low around 21. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday Snow. High near 30. Northeast wind 13 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Monday Night Snow likely before midnight, then a chance of snow and freezing rain between midnight and 3am, then a slight chance of snow after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 21. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
