Woman Robbed Bank In Wallingford: Police

The woman was found walking around town soon after the robbery on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Texas woman is accused of robbing a bank in Wallingford on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police responded to the Webster Bank at 64 South Main St. around 2:30 p.m. on the report of a bank robbery that just occurred, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques.

Jaques said the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Jennifer Key, was found about a mile and a half away from the crime scene and arrested.

Webster Bank reported that a woman passed a note to a bank teller demanding cash and then walked out, heading down South Main Street, according to Jaques. Staff at the bank said she made off with an undetermined amount of cash and that no weapon was used during the theft, according to Jaques.

“Officers descended upon the area immediately, conducted a swift investigation, and eventually found Key walking on Long Hill Road near Tremper Drive,” Jaques wrote in a news release.

Key was arrested and taken to Wallingford Police Headquarters for processing.

“No injuries were reported and Key is the sole suspect at this time,” Jaques said. “There is no threat to the public as this incident has been contained.”

Key, whose last known address is Palestine, Texas, was charged with second-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny.

She was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond with a court date of Nov. 16.
