2 Water Rescues in Waterford on Sunday Night

A total of three people were rescued by several agencies and led by the Goshen Fire Department.

It was a night of rescuing in Waterford.

First, firefighters responded to a swimmer in distress near Waterford Beach Sunday evening, and the Goshen Fire Department, while utilizing its rescue boat, rescued the person, NBC Connecticut reports.

Then later the same evening, two people were reported missing from a boat in the area of Cornfield Point in Old Saybrook.

Around 10 p.m. the Goshen Fire Boat rescued the two people from the water in Waterford. They were safely returned to shore, NBC Connecticut reports.

Old Lyme, Clinton, East Lyme, and Waterford fire departments all responded along with Old Saybrook and Westrbook fire departments.

According to the Old Saybrook Fire Department Facebook page, “NOTE This is the second water Rescue today for the Goshen Fire Dept. They rescued a swimmer in Waterford arouund 6:30pm today. Well done to the crew of W-93 of the Goshen Fire Dept.”
