Additional money is earmarked for a New London magnet school, an inclusive playground in East Lyme, and a Montville VFW post, reflecting a broader investment in southeastern Connecticut's schools, parks, and community facilities.
   

• Thieves steal equipment from Waterford Little League (wfsb.com) — Waterford Little League is scrambling after thieves stole about $5,000 in field-maintenance equipment from its shed just days before fall ball begins, leaving the complex without key tools. Volunteers and neighbors in Waterford are pitching in with donations and loaned equipment, and the nonprofit league plans to install security cameras to protect facilities used by more than 400 local families.
   

• These CT companies have 80,000 jobs open: Electric Boat, Amazon, Walmart and more are hiring (thehour.com) — Waterford residents are seeing big hiring momentum nearby, as Electric Boat redevelops the Crystal Mall site in town and plans to hire thousands across its Connecticut and Rhode Island facilities.
