Shelter-In-Place Lifted At Waterford Middle School: UPDATE
Prior to the lift, school officials said a shelter in place was effect, and no one was allowed in or out of the building.

WATERFORD, CT — Police said Tuesday afternoon that a shelter-in-place issued at Clark Lane Middle School after a single round of ammunition was found in a classroom has been lifted. Prior to the lift, no one was allowed in or out of the building.
According to a message to parents from Superintendent Thomas W. Giard, which was posted to the Waterford Police Department Facebook page, administration received information from a teacher that a single round of ammunition was found in a classroom shortly after 10 a.m.
"The school then instituted proper safety and security protocols thereafter," Giard said in the letter. "School administration immediately engaged law enforcement. We are currently in shelter in place and there are no people allowed in or out of the building."

In a separate Facebook post, police said staff and the Waterford Police School Resource Officers searched lockers, classrooms, backpacks and other student belongings but found nothing.
Police said the situation remains under investigation and there will be more police presence at the school over the next few days. Police also reiterated there is no threat to students or staff at the school.

Giard said police and administration are conducting a comprehensive investigation, and there is no immediate threat to student safety. He also said more information would be provided once it becomes available.
