Driver Strikes Officer While Fleeing From Waterford Police
An officer suffered minor injuries after being struck by a fleeing driver. Police pursued the suspect, who was arrested in Westerly, RI.
WATERFORD, CT — A fleeing vehicle struck an officer in Waterford, leading to minor injuries, according to police.
An officer spotted a vehicle "reported to have been taken from the owner without permission in a neighboring town" at 3:12 a.m. Monday.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of Stop & Shop, but the vehicle fled. The vehicle pulled into a driveway on Fog Plain Road.

The officer was approaching the vehicle on foot when the driver reversed out of the driveway in an attempt to flee, striking the officer and causing minor injuries.
"Our officer is good, very minor injury from light contact with the fleeing vehicle," police tweeted.

Police pursued the vehicle through multiple towns before it was eventually stopped in Westerly, RI. The suspect was taken into custody by Westerly police.
Waterford police are investigating and additional charges are anticipated.
