Jacknifed Tractor Trailer Accident Should Be Cleared Wednesday Afternoon

A jackknifed tractor trailer resulted in the closure of I-95 southbound between exits 81 and 80, in Waterford.

East Lyme Public Safety said the accident should be cleared up by 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3. Public Safety wrote:

“We have received word that accident on 95 Southbound in Waterford between exit 80 and the 395 split should be cleared by 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. There will be no further posts on this traffic situation unless there are changes to the above message. Thank you.”

Waterford Police Department shared the following information on a detour:

There is a traffic accident involving a tractor trailer truck on I-95 southbound in between exits 81 and 80 (81 Walmart, 80 Oil Mill Rd.).

As a result of this accident, traffic on southbound I-95 is being diverted onto exit 81, crossing Cross Road in Waterford, going down Parkway North past Sonalyst Studios, left onto Oil Mill Road, and right onto Route One. This will lead persons back onto I-95 southbound in East Lyme.

An alternative route would be to take exit 82 onto Route 85, turn right, follow this for several miles to I-395 southbound, which will take you to I-95.

Please stay away from this area, as there will be heavy traffic delays as a result. We will update when the highway is clear, it is expected to take several hours. Please share this post.
