Man Starts Fire, Tells Parents House Was Burglarized: Waterford Police
Police said a Waterford man set off a fire by lining his house with accelerant and lighting a sheet on fire.

WATERFORD, CT - Police said a Waterford man set off a fire by lining his house with accelerant and lighting a sheet on fire, the New London Day reported. Officials said the suspect, 33-year old Mark Steven Capasso Jr., then reported to his parents that their house had been burglarized.
Police said upon arrival at the suspect's house, officers found several floors, couches and doors lined with a pink gel they later determined to be Sterno fire starter, according to the New London Day. Officers also located a candle with a sheet around it and a red bottle of Sterno with the cap off, police said. Police said they found no signs of forced entry, the New London Day reported. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court September 19.
