Man Steals $1,000 In Merchandise From Store In Mall: Waterford PD

Waterford police said a Hartford man stole $1,000 in merchandise from a store at the Crystal Mall.

WATERFORD, CT - Waterford police said a man stole $1,000 in merchandise from a Macy's store at the Crystal Mall, the New London Day reported. The suspect was arrested Tuesday night, police said.

Police said Gregory Williams, 55, of Hartford was charged after Macy’s loss prevention personnel became suspicious of the suspect and followed him into a parking lot, according to the New London Day. Security personnel were able to detain the suspect and subsequently contacted police.

Police said officers allegedly found Williams with 31 stolen Macy's items, mostly clothing, valued by police at $1,001, the New London Day reported. The suspect was also found to have an opened pocket knife, according to police.
