Update: Puppy Perishes After Suffering From Electrocution
Original Post:
When Belle was found under a bush in a Norwich resident’s yard, Animal Control wasn’t sure she would survive her injuries.
“Sweet Belle appears to be smiling, but in fact she’s been electrocuted and dumped under a bush when someone called our ACO out for a weird animal sound under her bushes,” Norwich Animal Control said on Facebook.

She is only seven or eight weeks old.
On a poster circulating online, Animal Control said it appeared that Belle had either chewed on an electrical cord, sustained injuries and was dumped or someone may have deliberately caused the injuries.

“Our ACO Donna immediately took her to our vet and gave her a 50/50 chance of surviving,” Norwich Animal Control wrote on April 11. “CT Animal House stepped up (thankfully) and brought her to Bolton Vet for 24-hour care!”
‘A Long Road to Recovery’
On April 12, a positive update was shared by Animal Control.
“Belle made it through the night,” Norwich Animal Control said. “Oxygen seems to be helping, [she] ate some chicken for the vet tech but still has very labored breathing. It will be a long road to recovery.”
Donations are sought for Belle’s care:
- Paid directly to Bolton Vet or to CT Animal House, P.O. Box 343, Waterford, CT 06385
- Via PayPal to CT Animal House
“We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of this poor innocent puppy,” Norwich Animal Control said. “Any amount at all is greatly appreciated and will help in the recovery of this poor girl!”
