Some Residents Frustrated Over Proposed Waterford Rental Building

A number of Waterford residents expressed frustrations over a developer's plan for a new rental community during a recent meeting.

WATERFORD, CT — A number of Waterford residents recently expressed their frustrations over a developer's plan for a new rental community, the New London Day reported. The plan was discussed during this week's Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

The Day reported the developer has proposed to turn the long-vacant nursing home at 171 Rope Ferry Road into a 53-unit studio and efficiency apartment community. Approximately 30 percent of these would be moderate income housing, according to the developer.

A large number of residents voiced their opposition to the plan due to the potential traffic the complex could bring to the area, and some questioned whether there could be a better use for the site, according to the Day.
