Scammers Target Waterford Family, Police Say

Have you received a similar call?

We received another complaint in reference to a scam by phone. The caller, a male subject with heavy middle-eastern accent, claimed to be from a police department in Ohio. He left a message for the resident here in Waterford talking about her son.

We called the number back, 567-342-9086, and had the pleasure to speak with a female, again with a heavy Middle Eastern accent, who claimed she was with the U.S. Department of Treasury. She requested information from us until we identified ourselves as police officers. She immediately hung up on us.
