Speedbowl Complaints Prompt Review Of Town Noise Ordinance

NEW LONDON, CT — Officials said they are reviewing the town's noise ordinance following residents' complaints over the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, the New London Day reported.

According to the Day, one town official wrote a letter to the Representative Town Meeting in January asking they review the 25-year old ordinance, and suggested schedule adjustments be made at the raceway.

The debate is somewhat split, as some have complained the noise has affected residents' sleep schedules and hearing, according to the Day. Others claim the facility has taken steps to reduce noise over the years, and that limiting the Speedbowl's schedule could affect the facility and other area businesses.
