State Sale Of Seaside Property In Waterford Sees Pushback

A recent bill that would require the state to sell the site of the former Regional Seaside Center in Waterford has received some pushback.

WATERFORD, CT — A recent bill that would require the state to sell the former Regional Seaside Center site in Waterford has been met with pushback from a number of groups, who urged lawmakers Monday to reject the bill, the New London Day reported.

According to the Day, lawmakers were urged Monday by preservationists, environmental advocates and state officials to reject the bill, as well as over 100 residents who filed written testimony. These groups instead support plans for a public-private partnership at Seaside.

Under the partnership, regulators hope to select a developer to renovate the site into a 63-room hotel, according to the New London Day. The grounds would be kept open to the public as a state park.
