Students Thank Waterford Officers With Gift On Appreciation Day

WATERFORD, CT — A class of young students surprised Waterford police with a gift Tuesday to say thank you for all they do in honor of National Police Appreciation Day. According to a post on the department's Facebook page, a class from the Friendship School put together a booklet of their hand prints to give to the department.

Each student also signed their name, thanking the police officers for what they do every day.

To show their appreciation, officers put each one of the booklet's pages up in the area outside roll call. Now officers can see the kid’s appreciation every time they walk in and go to work.

Additionally, Chief Brett Mahoney made a trip to the school to show the kids their work was both proudly displayed and greatly appreciated. He also brought gifts for the students in hopes of "recognizing them for recognizing us."
