Waterford Police Crack Down During Holidays
From November to January, Waterford police focused on suspected DUI cases, among other violations. Here are the results of their efforts.

The Waterford Police Department joined more than 13,000 law enforcement agencies in a nationwide crackdown on driving under the influence violators through the past Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day holiday season, Waterford Police Officer Dave Anderson and Chief Murray Pendleton said in a press release.
Between November 20, 2014 and January 1 of this year, Waterford Police Department enhanced its patrol division strength during most evenings, by assigning one or two additional officers between the hours of 5 p.m. and 4 a.m., specifically to target DUI enforcement, as well as seatbelt, speeding and other motor vehicle violations.
During this six week period, Waterford Police issued citations for approximately 622 motor vehicle related violations, including:

- 22 DUI Arrests
- 21 Seatbelt/Child seat violations
- 28 Suspended Drivers License violations
- 34 Cell phone/Distracted Driving Violations
- 223 Speeding/Traveling Unreasonably Fast violations
“Waterford Police Department is proud to have been selected to participate in this Federal Highway Safety Program and feels their efforts helped save lives and enhance public safety during this past holiday season,” police said.
This campaign is part of the Federal Highway Safety Program in accordance with the 2015 Fiscal Year Connecticut Highway Safety Strategic Plan.
