Waterford Police Investigating Collision that Entrapped, Left Driver in Critical Condition
Police ask anyone with information to contact them immediately.

WATERFORD, CT - Police are currently investigating a hazardous collision that entrapped a driver in their vehicle Thursday.
At about 10 p.m., members of the Waterford Police Department Patrol Division and the Waterford Fire and Ambulance Services responded to the area of 61 Douglas Lane. Response was prompted by reports of a one car motor vehicle accident with injuries, according to a release.
Initial responding units located the vehicle which was partially off the roadway. The vehicle had hit a tree and was found to have two occupants, identified as Timothy Schoennagel, 30, of Waterford and Eliza P. Desantis, 26, of Niantic.

Police said Schoennagel was entrapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the Cohanzie Fire Service. The unresponsive driver was then flown via Life Star medical helicopter to the Hartford Hospital for evaluation and treatment in critical condition.
Desantis was located standing outside with no apparent injury, and was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for precautionary evaluation.
