Waterford Police Seek Man Suspected of Breaking into House, Possibly Connected to String of Burglaries

WATERFORD, CT – Police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect in a string of recent burglaries.

The Waterford Emergency Communications Center received a call about a burglary in progress near Spithead Road on Friday around 10:15 a.m. The caller informed the dispatcher a man had kicked in the front door of a residence and gone inside, according to a release.

The caller also informed the dispatcher of a gray SUV in the driveway, of which the person in the house was the driver.

Police responded to the area and noticed a gray Mazda CX-5 with plate that did not match the vehicle. Officers followed the vehicle, but did not engage the suspect after he took off at high speed.

Officers observed the suspect operating the vehicle. He is described as being a white male in his late thirties with heavier set dark hair with streaks of grey, a tight cropped beard close to his face, large eyes and protruding teeth with gaps in both the upper and lower front teeth.

Over the past several days, police have responded to several burglaries, and believe the suspect may be connected to them.

Residents are urged to make sure all of their doors and vehicles are locked. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department immediately.

Police ask anyone who may spot the suspect to get a description of the person and the marker plate of the vehicle if possible.
