Waterford Police Seeking Suspected Gas Thief

WATERFORD, CT - Police are searching for a man suspected of trying to siphon gas from two vehicles in a parking lot.

Police said the suspect climbed over a closed and locked fence into the YOST Home Improvement Parking Lot on Wednesday at approximately 7:20 p.m. He was carrying a red gas canister at the time, according to a release.

The suspect then forcefully opened and broke off the gas covers of two company vehicles in an attempt to siphon both vehicles' gas. He was on the property for approximately 10 minutes before leaving.

Police said the suspect parked a newer pickup truck with a crew cab, possibly silver in color, next to the closed entrance fence. Another unknown vehicle turned around by his vehicle while he was parked there.

The suspect is described as a white male measuring approximately 5 feet and 8 inches tall, with a receding brown hairline and a long pony tail. He was wearing a dark green t-shirt, jeans and white sneaker.
