Waterford Receives Over $30,000 For Small Harbor Improvements

WATERFORD, CT - Sixteen different Connecticut municipalities this week had Small Harbor Improvement Projects approved for state funding. The total amount of funding that will be handed out tops $4 million.

The money allotted is under the jurisdiction of the Connecticut Port Authority’s “Grants-In- Aid” for improvements to ports and marinas. The work includes dreading and navigational directional work.

Waterford will receive $35,000 for the Mago Point Mooring/Dock.

The money awarded, and for what work is outlined below:

• Essex, update harbor management plan/study harbor, $42,500
• Fairfield, update harbor management plan/reconstruct/dredge boat ramp, $272,500
• Norwich, update harbor management plan, $7,500
• Wethersfield, new boat ramp, $765,000
• West Haven, boat ramp feasibility study, $59,800
• Clinton, reconstruct/dredge boat ramp, $110,000
• Stamford, West Beach Boat Ramp and Docks, $120,000
• Madison, marina study, $90,000
• Milford, Lisman Landing dock repairs, $398,000
• Norwalk, reconstruction of visitors docks, $908,250
• Groton, Town – new Nautilus Dock, $730,000
• Groton, City – new Thames Street Dock, $54,400
• Waterford, Mago Point Mooring/Dock, $35,000
• Stratford, Emergency Service Dock, $13,700
• Chester, design and planning for Chester Creek dredging, $15,000
• Stonington, South Pier/Town Dock dredging and breakwater reconstruction, $390,000
