Waterford School Takes Part In Planned Lockdown Drill: PD

Police said a Waterford school took part in a planned lockdown drill and K-9 search.

WATERFORD, CT — Police said a Waterford school took part in a planned lockdown drill and K-9 search Thursday morning.

Police said on Facebook that Waterford High School is participating in a "planned lockdown drill and routine training exercise" in cooperation with both the school and area police K-9 units.

Police emphasized that although residents may have seen several police cars at the high school Thursday morning, it was a planned drill and not an emergency.

"As part of our efforts to make sure that your children are educated in the safest environment possible, the Waterford High School is testing their ability to coordinate with emergency service providers and at the same time helping to ensure a safe and drug-free school environment for your children," the post said.
